The Old Farmhouse offers a relaxing, peaceful, perfect holiday on Arran. There is everything you need and more in the accommodation. If you are into animals and wildlife like us, you will not be disappointed! Fantastic views from majority of the windows out to the sea and Ailsa Craig. Lovely at mealtimes to sit at the table in the large kitchen looking at these views. Whilst there are a few other cottages, the Old Farmhouse is private and surrounded by countryside. It is very quiet here enabling you to listen to the sea, weather and birds.

"We had a wonderful week at The Old Farmhouse. It felt welcoming the minute we arrived, and everything we needed was provided. The ever changing view from the sun room was stunning. The shore at the bottom of the track provided awesome sunrise photos every morning, and close views of an otter on two occasions. The two cyclists in our party voted Arran the perfect island for cycling. They also enjoyed swimming (yes, in October!!) in Machrie Bay - and eating afterwards at the cafe there

    Dear Alastair,
We have just returned from a week's stay at your beautiful farmhouse on the Isle of Arran. This was one of the nicest holiday homes that we have stayed in and the views from the property were really spectacular.
On arrival we found the house had everything we needed for the makings of a wonderful holiday. It was very clean and the attention to detail was very refreshing. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen well equipped.
We really enjoyed spending time in the conservatory, watch the wildlife and the sea. The location was so peaceful and it was very nice to get away from it all and relax.
If ever we return to Arran, we would have no hesitation in staying at the farmhouse again and we would definitely recommend it to others.
    Kind Regards,
    Linda & Chris Moore - September 2016

We booked the OLD FARMHOUSE for a holiday with 3 of our grandsons ( aged 9, 6 and 3 ). It's a very spacious, well laid out house, providing the children with ample play areas, in a fantastic location. The boys never tired of the stunning view to Ailsa Craig. The house also had a great selection of books and games which kept the boys entertained at bedtime. The location of the house meant there was always wildlife to watch - our youngest grandson being fascinated by the " hundreds of wee baby rabbits". My husband and I have been visiting the Island for many years and our hope is that our grandsons will develop the same enthusiasm. They enjoyed visiting The Standing Stones at Machrie Moor ( making up their own stories about how the Stones got there and their purpose). A fun day was spent at Balmichael Fun Centre ( great value for money ) - bouncy pillows, glass sledging, sand pit etc. And a morning at the Crazy Golf in Brodick was hilarious - good old fashioned fun. I have no hesitation in recommending this property - the owners have created a beautiful holiday house.

Situation: Is peaceful yet not secluded as 3 other holiday homes make up this excellent and scenic site where lots of wildlife abound and cattle and sheep love to say "hello". Slow, careful driving is essential over the 800 metres or so of bumpy farm track to reach your destination. The Farmhouse: Well worth that bumpy approach! This is a wonderfully equipped and presented house where your every need is provided for. Kitchen is superb, utility/boiler/drying room is A1. Whoever did this renovation should be congratulated for their innovation and consideration of the likely needs of future users. Storage space is plentiful - in kitchen, hall, bedrooms, utility room. Nothing has been left to chance. Bedrooms are spacious and upstairs each bedroom has en-suite facilities. My only 'observation' - and is not a complaint, more an 'age thing' - is that I would have preferred our beds (upstairs twin bedroom) not to have been so low - the younger family in the large double bedroom with low bed had no worries. Our 15 month old grand-daughter just loved her own room downstairs in the super travel cot supplied while her parents kept a look out on the monitor they use. She slept like a log each night! The ground floor bedroom has its own bathroom/shower/toilet/whb attached - not en-suite, but the next best thing! The changing mat and high chair (similar to her own at home) were also very much appreciated. A large comfortable lounge with TV and radio, books, games (rarely used by us) and a wood burning stove (which we didn't use) will be a cosy place in the cooler months. The conservatory/sun room is terrific with vast views to Ailsa Craig and the mainland. A super place to relax and chill out. All in all, we had a wonderful seven days in Arran with The Old Farmhouse as our base. As for eating out, I had pre-booked the Lagg Hotel for dinner on our first night and as always they didn't disappoint. We had dinner there again nearer the end of the week and once more we all had enjoyable meals. Creelers in Brodick, near Arran Aromatics, gave us a great lunch of fishy dishes one day - so tasty! In spite of a longish wait those of our party visiting the distillery at Lochranza had good fare in the café/restaurant there. The PHT (Pier Head Tavern) in Lamlash did us proud with a great lunch on another day and very reasonably priced. The Auchrannie Bistro and Bar was also OK for lunch. With a little one we mostly ate "at home" in the evening - we were able then to enjoy some wines and later sample the whiskies the men had bought on their visits to Lochranza!

Beautiful house with commanding views over the fields to the sea beyond. Well set out and spacious with the whole house in very good condition. No complaints here at all. There are other properties closely neighbouring this one ( courtyard shared between 4 properties) but we were lucky that these were only used for a short periods during our stay. The house is not isolated so if you don't like neighbours you may be upset if you have noisy holidaymakers next door.
    Mr William - June 2016

Owners Response: "Thank you for your comments. The other 3 properties are used by their owners as holiday homes and these are very rarely let out. All of us appreciate the sense of relaxation and privacy as each property has its own views and vista. Noisy neighbours have never been an issue. Also the walls of the property are 2 feet thick which means that you tend to forget that anyone is there at all!"

Excellent house finished to a very good standard. Comfortable conservatory and peaceful surroundings. Down at the bottom of the island but not far from anywhere on Arran. We had a week of great weather and used the barbecue a few times in a nice garden open to the sea views. The ground floor bedroom was excellent for an older member of our party so they did not have use the stairs except to take a shower. There is only a bath on the ground floor, shower would be good as my mother could not get into the bath but she managed the upstairs shower with help. If you want a house away from it all then this is ideal.

We were all very impressed with the quality of The Old Farmhouse, and wowed by the scenic location - a perfect spot for getting away from it all and having a great, relaxing time with friends. The owners were also friendly and helpful. We would only hesitate to recommend it to others because we want to go back ourselves!
    Mr Burns - March 2016

This is a lovely house. It is well-equipt, well-maintained and spacious, with plenty of room to dry out wet, muddy walking boots and waterproofs. It has a good dining kitchen, a cosy sun-lounge with beautiful views over the sea and a lovely lounge with a wood-burning stove and a well-stacked wood store. The 2 bedrooms upstairs are both en-suite and there is a further bedroom and separate bathroom downstairs. The house is part of a small cluster about a mile outside Kilmory, and is a bit out of the way down a farm track. However the other properties mean you are not completely isolated.
    Mrs Macdonald - February 2016

Blessed with good weather the Old Farmhouse provided us with accommodation for what proved to be a memorable holiday. The house and Arran both inspired us - it is highly probable that we shall return

We had a delightful week at the Old farmhouse, celebrating our son's 40th birthday, with family and friends. There was so much to enjoy, a fabulous sunset over Ailsa Craig, 5 hares leaping about the field and the sudden appearance of a pine marten, plus a wonderful assortment of birds.
This is a very well equipped superbly comfortable , welcoming house and we hope to be back.

We enjoyed a great family holiday at the old farmhouse. Such a lovely location with lovely views of Ailsa Craig, and only a 20 minute walk to a lovely beach. A very relaxing place to stay. The house is equipped with everything you could need, and plenty of room for 6 adults to be together or spread out. I would highly recommend this as a holiday home if you enjoy peace & the countryside.

An incredible location and the views allow for many moments of reflection and appreciation of just how beautiful Scotland can be. The House is lovely and spacious but still has a real cosy feel. Our two wee girls had a great time on Arran and would highly recommend this place , we will definately be back. Thank you :~)

A real home from home and we loved it! Excellently equipped house and when we were there we saw a red squirrel and a sparrowhawk in the garden-Brilliant! Superb views and lots to do; Arran is a great island for a holiday. Can't wait to go back again.

We have returned to The Old Farmhouse several times. Why? Because, quite simply it is by far the best self-catering accommodation we have come across. Faultless, equipped to a very high standard, very comfortable and in a stunning location.
